Desk Accessories to Make You More Productive

Desk Accessories to Make You More Productive

Working from home (or even in an office, honestly) means you really have to set yourself up for success from the beginning of the day. For me at least, if I get distracted, it takes me quite a while to get back into whatever I was doing. Here are my favorite desk accessories to make you more productive.

Fidget Cube/Stress Ball

When I start getting anxious or stressed, I start biting my nails, ripping my cuticles or popping my fingers repeatedly until my wrists hurt. Getting a fidget cube drastically reduced my wrist pain during times of anxiety. It also has helped keep me focused when I’m getting distracted.

USB Charging Station

It gets frustrating when you start doing something with your phone, realize it’s dying and go grab a charger, only to discover that your iPad is ALSO dying, meaning you have to go find another charger. I keep three chargers here at all times, so if something is dying, I just plug it in easily and continue on with what I’m doing.

Computer Tab

I have a real love for post-it notes. All through college, I kept a running assignment list on my wall using post-it notes. Now, I do that still, but now they’re simply attached to my computer for easy access. I can see what my big to-dos are for the day or week right in front of my face at all times. I can also remind myself if I have an appointment or meeting, as sometimes I’ll lose track of time when I get engrossed in my work.

Laptop Stand

I struggle with neck and back pain, so I’ve tried just about everything to combat it. On my desk currently is a large 26” monitor, connected to my laptop that’s up on a laptop stand. I use a wireless mouse and keyboard as well. It keeps everything at eye level and ensures I’m not having to stop what I’m doing to rub my back every thirty minutes.

Cable Clips

Having loose or lost cables is a serious pet peeve of mine. I use cable clips to keep everything exactly in place, so I never have to search or get tangled in a web of cables.

Mug Warmer

If you’re a coffee or tea drinker and you tend to get engrossed in your work like me, you may realize thirty minutes too late that your coffee is now cold. Then you have to stop what you’re doing, head to the kitchen and warm up your mug. This mug warmer means I don’t have to leave my desk & my drink stays the perfect temperature all morning long.

Organizer Set

Everyone needs a good, quality organizer set. This one is rose gold (my office theme color) and features all organization tools I need. It has a pen holder, where I keep all my favorite pens and highlighters within close reach. You already know I love sticky notes, and the matching holder makes it easy to grab them. It also has a file tray, where I usually place my iPad, planner, notebook & any other flat items like that that I’m using that day.

It also contains a hanging file organizer, which I have secured to the side of my desk. Any papers, notebooks, etc. that I need access to throughout the week, I’ll place in there. Lastly, there’s a three-compartment letter sorter. I use the back compartment to store my small organizer where I keep business receipts. The front is letters/packages that need to be sent out, and the middle is anything that needs to get filed/put elsewhere.

Desk Pad

I like to have my post-it notes right in front of my face to see what my big to-dos are. I’ve also started using a desk pad. I don’t actually usually keep this on my desk. I keep it in the only desk drawer I have, so I can pop it open if I need to take a peek at the schedule.
